Central Carolina Scale sells & services Digital Fishing Tournament Weigh-In Scales

SPORTSMAN FISHING TOURNAMENT SCALE

Now the same weighing technology that weighed the big catches at popular tournaments is available for local fishing clubs.

The Sportsman line of scales are particularly suited to fishing tournament weigh-in applications and general purpose weighing. These are very affordable non trade scales with accurate weights up to 400 lbs. This scale operates on standard AC power or AA batteries (both included). This enables both portability or permanent installations. A large, simple to read display can be wall or stand mounted for easy visibility and the large keyboard switches work with gloved hands (wall and desk bracket included).

ANSWERS

STARTING POINT ... With the scale platform completely empty, the digital display will read 0.00 The scale then increments up or down depending on what item(s) you put on the scale.

CAPACITY x READABILITY ... The first number is the capacity, the maximum weight you can put on the scale platform. The Sportsman is available in your choice of 50, 100, 150, or 400 lb capacity.

The second number is the amount or graduation size that the scale increments up/down as you put items on the scale.

So, for example, if you have a scale that is listed as 50 x .01 lbs. The maximum weight you can put on the scale is 50 lbs. As you put items on the scale, the numbers are going to increment up or down in 0.01 pound increments. So you might see on the scale display 3.00, 3.01, 3.02 etc... or 15.01, 28.03, 45.26 etc....

However, you will NOT see 12.003 or 55.00 because 12.003 has too many decimal places and 55.00 is larger than the capacity of 50 lbs.

TARE ... Yes, you can place a box or bag on the scale platform and press the "TARE" button and the weight of that item is removed and you are now weighing in the NET mode.

WATERPROOF? ... The Sportsman series is not washdown safe. If you are going to be using it outdoors or in an area where it will possibly get wet, please wrap the indicator with plastic as well as the items you're weighing. We do carry many fishing scales that are washdown safe are noted in their respecitive descriptions. If you need to make sure, just email us and we can confirm whether or not the system(s) you're interested in is wash down safe or not. Our products are rated IP65 or higher, which is defined below:

IP65 Dust proof, protected from splashes and low-pressure jets
IP66 Dust proof, protected from strong water jets
IP67 Dust proof, protected from temporary immersion in water 1 meter deep for 30 minutes
IP68 Dust proof, protected from continuous immersion in water under more severe conditions than IP67
IP69K Dust proof, protected from water during high pressure/steam cleaning

HOLD...One of the more difficult jobs during fish tournament weigh-in's is to determine what the actual weight on the scale is when the numbers are fluctuating up and down. The Sportsman scale features a “HOLD” function which will “Lock” onto the highest average reading and display it on the digital indicator. This weight will remain on the indicator even after the item(s) being weighed are removed from the scale. You can simply press the “Hold key” after the weight is removed which will unlock the weight reading and allow the scale to return to zero and weigh in normal mode.

Basic Instructions for Hold feature
1. With the scale on & showing 0.00 -- Press the “HOLD key” and the arrow icon “HOLD” will be visible.
2. Place the item(s) to be weighed on the scale platform.
3. The Hold icon will flash until the scale has locked onto the highest average reading.
4. Weight is stable when the “lb” and “Hold” symbols stop flashing.
5. Remove the weight and the scale will continue to “Hold” the weight on the screen.
6. To unlock the hold weight, press the Hold key, the Hold icon will turn off and begin normal weighing

CABLE...the cable that connects the weigh platform to the digital indicator is approximately 6 feet long.

POWER REQUIREMENTS ... The scale systems are powered by either AC power or battery. The Optional remote displays available operate on 110 VAC power.

REMOTE DISPLAY ... Yes, a remote display ( 4" or 6" digit) is available either seperately or as part of a complete Sportsman scale system package. However, we HIGHLY recommend you purchase the remote display with the scale system at the same time because installation should only be done by trained scale technicians. The remote display operates on 110 VAC power and does not lock weight. Please note that the remote display will only display pounds or killograms -- no pounds/ounces. OTHER SYSTEMS? With the internet flooded these days with all kinds of products -- you're bound to see other fishing tournament scale systems around. Some make certain claims, others are priced really really low...we've found that there is usually a reason (or reasons) why these systems are not as good as the ones we offer.

We think that you'll find that the Sportsman series is the ideal budget fishing tournament scale that you can buy now and add accessories as your club or tournament grows. We have three different sizes of remote displays available which can be added to your Sportsman scale.

What system should I buy? -- We hear this question a lot. It really depends on what you or your club is going to do and how often. If you are only going to use the scale a few times a year, probably the Sportsman w/ Remote or the PPC200W would be your best choices for the money. However, if you're going to be using the scales quite often and the scales are a VERY important part of your event, you should probably take a good look at the Doran Tournament Series or the Doran Classic w/ Remote. Ultimately, you need to determine what features you MUST have in a tournament scale and go from there. We have all different price ranges available.

How to buy? -- You can purchase our systems with any major credit card. We take Mastercard, Visa, Discover or American Express.

How can a small club afford to buy such high priced scales, even if they are high quality? We hear this quite often. The easiest answer is: sometimes you need to pay a little more in order to get a better scale. You need to decide once and for all if you're going to keep making the yearly trip to the office supply store to buy a cheap scale that's probably going to last one season (or less) or are you going to buy a scale that's going to last? We do our best to only offer scales that are durable and reliable. As you may know, there are A LOT of scales in the marketplace today and we try our best to only offer the ones that we feel the most comfortable with and have the most confidence in. The other answer we offer to you is: be CREATIVE. Just because a scale system costs a certain amount, doesn't mean you or your members have to pay for all of it. For example, our giant remote displays are sure to catch people's eyes throughout an event. Sell sponsorships or billboards that will be located near the remote display. This is just one way to help ease the burden of buying tournament systems.
