DORAN "CLASSIC" SERIES FISHING
SCALES FAQ
Now
the same weighing technology that weighed the big catches at popular
tournaments is available for local fishing clubs.
The Classic Series
includes a Washdown Safe Digital Scale with custom Tournament Fish
Weighing Software built in to lock the weight on the display.

The scale weigh
table is constructed of 304 stainless steel and is low profile and
shock resistant. The scale digital indicator features the bright red
LED display and features a Super tough "Guardian" control
panel and case. The scale is powered by 115 VAC power standard. Doran
stainless indicators now feature an impressive IP69K Rating. The Classic
scale system displays weight in lb, kg, g, oz, or lb & oz. and
is NTEP certified legal for trade. The scale system is factory calibrated
to display weights up to 50 pounds, in 0.01 pound increments.

ANSWERS
|
STARTING POINT
... With the scale platform completely empty, the digital display
will read 0.00 The scale then increments up or down depending
on what item(s) you put on the scale.
|
|
CAPACITY x READABILITY
... The first number is the capacity, the maximum weight you
can put on the scale platform. Usually either 50 or 100 lbs.
The second number
is the amount or graduation size that the scale increments up/down
as you put items on the scale.
So, for example,
if you have a scale that is listed as 50 x .01 lbs. The maximum
weight you can put on the scale is 50 lbs. As you put items
on the scale, the numbers are going to increment up or down
in 0.01 pound increments. So you might see on the scale display
3.00, 3.01, 3.02 etc... or 15.01,
28.03, 45.26
etc....
However, you will
NOT see 12.003 or 55.00
because 12.003 has too many decimal places and 55.00 is larger
than the capacity of 50 lbs.
|
|
TARE ... Yes,
you can place a box or bag on the scale platform and press the
"TARE" button and the weight of that item is
removed and you are now weighing in the NET mode.
|
|
WATERPROOF?
... The Doran Classic is wash down safe. All the items that
are washdown safe are noted in their respecitive descriptions.
If you need to make sure, just email us and we can confirm whether
or not the system(s) you're interested in is wash down safe
or not. Our products are rated IP65 or higher, which
is defined below:
IP65 Dust
proof, protected from splashes and low-pressure jets
IP66 Dust proof, protected from strong water jets
IP67 Dust proof, protected from temporary immersion in water
1 meter deep for 30 minutes
IP68 Dust proof, protected from continuous immersion in water
under more severe conditions than IP67
IP69K Dust proof, protected from water during high pressure/steam
cleaning

POWER REQUIREMENTS
... The Doran Classic scale systems are powered by 110VAC power
or optional rechargeable battery. The optional remote
displays available w/ the Doran Classic operates on 110
VAC power.
|
|
REMOTE DISPLAY
... Yes, a remote display ( 4" or 6" Digits) is available
either seperately or as part of a complete Doran Classic scale
system package. However, we HIGHLY recommend you purchase the
remote display with the scale system at the same time because
installation should only be done by trained scale technicians.
The remote display operates on 110 VAC power and does not lock
weight in like the Doran Classic indicator does. Please note
that the remote display will only display pounds or killograms
-- no pounds/ounces. We also have an optional 14" column
available for the Classic system as well. Click

OTHER SYSTEMS?
With the internet
flooded these days with all kinds of products -- you're bound
to see other fishing tournament scale systems around. Some make
certain claims, others are priced really really low...we've
found that there is usually a reason (or reasons) why these
systems are not as good as the ones we offer.
Now,
we're not going to blatantly put down any competitor's products
(enough people already do that on the internet in general).
However, we do feel that there are better suited products for
the fishing tournament market like our (Doran
products) and THOSE are the products we highly recommend
for you and we know that you'll like.

What system should
I buy? -- We
hear this question a lot. It really depends on what you or your
club is going to do and how often. If you are only going to
use the scale a few times a year, probably the Sportsman
or the PPC200W would be your best choices for the money. However,
if you're going to be using the scales quite often and the scales
are a VERY important part of your event, you should probably
take a good look at the Doran
Classic or the Doran
Tournament Series. Ultimately, you need to determine what
features you MUST have in a tournament scale and go from there.
We have all different price ranges available.

How to buy?
-- You can purchase our systems with any major credit card.
We take Mastercard, Visa, Discover or American Express.
How can a small
club afford to buy such high priced scales, even if they are
high quality? We hear this quite often. The easiest answer
is: sometimes you need to pay a little more in order to get
a better scale. You need to decide once and for all if you're
going to keep making the yearly trip to the office supply store
to buy a cheap scale that's probably going to last one season
(or less) or are you going to buy a scale that's going to last?
We do our best to only offer scales that are durable and reliable.
As you may know, there are A LOT of scales in the marketplace
today and we try our best to only offer the ones that we feel
the most comfortable with and have the most confidence in. The
other answer we offer to you is: be CREATIVE. Just because a
scale system costs a certain amount, doesn't mean you or your
members have to pay for all of it. For example, our giant remote
displays are sure to catch people's eyes throughout an event.
Sell sponsorships or billboards that will be located near the
remote display. This is just one way to help ease the burden
of buying tournament systems.
